In June Food Technology and Textiles students hosted a Chinese Cultural activities day for  students at Cambewarra Public School. The day is part of Bomaderry High School’s Asian Literacy program which partners our staff and students with primary school classes in studying and developing projects on various Asian cultures.

The students from Years 4-6  alternated between Chinese cooking and Chinese textiles activities. The kitchens were filled with the aroma of Yum Cha foods as students made a variety of mouth watering dishes.  There was a buzz in the kitchen as the students served up their food which was quickly devoured with chopsticks.

In textiles, the students made a wonderful array of coloured silk snakes, involving a process of colouring and twisting fabric. This activity was obviously enjoyed by all and the rooms were filled with colourful snakes hanging from above.

Congratulations to the Year 9 Food Technology and Textiles students who assisted the younger students on the day showing great maturity, leadership and confidence. Thanks also to the staff who created such an array of interesting cultural activities which were enjoyed by all. Cambewarra students all left with a fortune cookie containing a very special message -‘Bomaderry high school is the best.’
